Which Train Car Do I Like?

For daytime trips, there are four train car choices:

Open Car – Seats Face Out, No Glass in the Windows

Standard Coach - Heat, Seats Face Foward

Crown Coach - AC/Heat, Seats Face Forward, Extra Charge

Adult Club Car - AC/Heat, More Comfortable Seating, Adult Beverages Available, Minimum Age 21 Yrs, Extra Charge

NANTAHALA GORGE EXCURSION

For the most scenic daytime train trips, ride the Nantahala Gorge Excursion from the Bryson City Depot. From there, the railroad meanders through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, across Fontana Lake via the Fontana Trestle, down to the Nantahala Gorge, and back again. These train rides take about 4.5 hours.

Enjoy your 1 hour layover by hiking on the Appalachian Trail or venturing down to the river to watch some terrific North Carolina Whitewater Rafting. The Nantahala Gorge Excursion and lodging at our bed and breakfasst is included in our Highbrow Hobo Vacation Package.

GOURMET DINNER TRAIN

The Saturday Night Gourmet Dinner Train offers first class seating and a four course gourmet meal with cocktails and wine available. This is one of the finest dinner train rides in North Carolina.  This excursion departs from the Dillsboro Depot, only 20 minutes away. Dinner trains have a strictly enforced dress code.

MYSTERY THEATER DINNER TRAIN

The Friday Night Mystery Theatre Dinner Train also offers gourmet dining with a special opportunity to take part in a scandalous crime aboard the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. RAFT N RAIL
