The Great Smoky Mountains National Park boasts an abundance of plant and animal life, as well as activities for nature lovers of all ages. Although it is the most visited park in the nation, the North Carolina side of the Smokies offers a less crowded environment for the vacation traveler.
The Deep Creek entrance to the Smoky Mountains lies just outside of Bryson City. There you will find hiking trails, waterfalls, fishing, tubing, and a sizeable picnic area. Three waterfalls grace this section of the park.
The Oconaluftee entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is in nearby Cherokee on US 441. Southern Appalachian mountain culture, heritage, and history are kept alive in this section of the Great Smokies at the Mountain Farm Museum and nearby Mingus Mill.
